Joseph Robar carefully navigates floodwater that collected July 3 on Whiting Street after a pop-up Thunderstorm caused a deluge of rain. Because of a rainy June and big thunderstorms, Plainville has been prone to small stream and street flooding. The large rains Friday afternoon also causes flooding in other areas of town, including East Street, Burnside and Homestead avenues, and other flood-prone roads. Robar said while he was on his three-wheeled bike, the skies opened up "and it rained hard."
