High school cancels curriculum showcase set for Nov. 17

Plainville High School has canceled the first Curriculum and Activities Showcase that was set to be held tomorrow, Nov. 17, according to Principal Steven LePage. The showcase will be rescheduled for January.

Death of teenager determined to be suicide

Plainville Police are on the scene of the sports fields at Plainville High School following the discovery of a body this morning. Police said they were called early this morning by a person, who while taking a walk on the track, found a body. Also on the scene is Superintendent Jeffrey Kitching. It is not known if the body is an adult or a student.

Food drive this Sunday in Plainville

There will be a food drive for the Plainville Community Food Pantry -  Help Stuff the Bus - for food and supplies to restock the depleted shelves and for Thanksgiving baskets on Sunday, Nov. 13, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Rockwell Dance Hall, 161 Woodford Ave., Plainville.

Proposed last day of school is June 22

Superintendent of Schools Jeffrey Kitching said Thursday that at this point it is likely that Plainville schools will make up for the five lost snow days by adding five extra days to the end of the school year, which would put the last day and graduation tentatively on Friday, June 22.
