Kohl's department store, located at Connecticut Commons on New Britain Avenue, was closed Friday at 3 p.m. after inspectors determined that the roof could be unsafe because of the weight of the snow. The store reopened this morning, Saturday, for regular business.

Kohl's is having a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the remodeling of the Plainville and Branford stores. The Plainville event will be held Wednesday, Aug. 12, 7:45 a.m., at the 200 New Britain Ave. location. These stores are among the more than 50 Kohl's locations undergoing renovations this year.
