Four Plainville High School students recently attended the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award Program, according to Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Binkowski.

Brittany Rogan named Governor's Scholar

Plainville High School junior Brittany Rogan has been selected as a 2010 governor’s scholar, according to PHS Principal Greg Ziogas. “Brittany Rogan is another example of the quality people that Plainville High School produces. Her hard work in and outside of the classroom are a source of great pride to her family and the school,” said Ziogas.

Science instructor named teacher of the year

Plainville Community Schools has named Plainville High School science teacher, John Girard, the 2010-11 Teacher of the Year. Girard was nominated by fellow high school science instructors Cheryl Hathaway and Ken Fusco.

Wolcott school administrator to head PHS

Steven LePage, assistant principal of Wolcott High School in Wolcott, has been named principal of Plainville High School, school officials announced May 26. LePage will replace current principal Greg Ziogas, who will retire in June.

Brick program honors loved ones

The Plainville High School Parent Advisory Committee is offering the chance to be part of history through the Engraved Brick Program. Parents and community members may purchase a brick engraved with the names of a child, loved one, teacher or alumnus.

High school principal announces top 10 percent

Students in the communications and construction classes at Plainville High School recently designed and produced signage for the Adult and Continuing Education Department and the district’s central office area at the Municipal Center. High school seniors Rob Rivera, David Caron and Amanda Lea created the Central Office Directory which hangs in the first floor lobby of the municipal center, while Rivera created a 4-ft. x 8-ft. sign for the Adult Education program to advertise registration for classes. Through the signage projects, the students were able to apply graphic design and communication technology in a real world application.
