Two witches look they may be preparing to "cast a spell" on others at the Oct. 30 annual Halloween party and parade. The event is presented by the Plainville Recreation Department and the Plainville Public Library with refreshments provided by the Rotary Club. Hundreds of children and adults came to see the magic show by Bryan Flint and to march in the downtown parade, which was led by the Plainville High School band.

Preparing for the Plainville Public Library fall book sale are, from left to right, Margaret Straub, president of Friends of the Plaiinville Public Library, Barbara Reeve, Carol Loiselle and Jane McGinley. The sale starts Friday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a $3 admission fee. On Saturday, Sept 12, the book sale will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with no fee to attend.
