Two Plainville schools achieve Energy Star certification
The Louis Toffolon Elementary and Linden Street schools have qualified for Energy Star Certification under the federal government’s Energy Star Program, according to district Facilities Director Steve Busel.
Kindergarten registration under way
Children who will be five years old on or before Jan. 1, 2011, are eligible for kindergarten in September 2010. Contact one of the following elementary schools to obtain materials for kindergarten registration:
Schools budget meeting Monday
There will be a special meeting of the Plainville Board of Education on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 7 p.m., in the Library Information Center, Middle School of Plainville, 150 Northwest Drive. This is a board budget development meeting.
Plainville Schools closing early
Because of the snow, Plainville Community Schools have early dismissal today.
A.M. Kindergarten will dismiss at 11:40 a.m.
Plainville High School will dismiss at 12:10 p.m.
Middle School of Plainville will dismiss at 12:45 p.m.
All elementary schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
There will be no P.M. Kindergarten.

Fifth-graders participate in coalition contest
School system comments on influenza and absences
Assistant Superintendent of Schools David Telesca said Tuesday that Plainville schools have a little higher rate of absences this week because of student illness. Some of the absent pupils have influenza, however, no confirmed cases of H1N1 (swine flu) have been reported, he said.
