Senior center bowlers of the month for November

The Plainville Senior Center Bowling League announced that Carter Casida, Helen Tessier and Gil Theriault won the title of bowlers of the month for November 2011. The league meets at Laurel Lanes, 136 New Britain Ave., Plainville, on Mondays at 1 p.m. There is a cost per person, per week and includes three games of bowling, open bowling discount card, automatic scoring and free weekly beverage. Bowlers of all abilities, including beginners, are welcome to join this league. For more information, contact Frank Robinson, bowling league president, at (860) 747-2918.

Crews were working today to pave the new parking lot in front of Plainville Senior Center, located at 200 East St. The next task will be painting the lines on the pavement. The new lot supplements the original lot that is behind the building.

Because of the icy weather, activities at the Plainville Senior Center have been canceled for today, Tuesday, Jan. 18. No word on when the seed packaging session for Michaela's 4 O'Clock flowers will be held.

Plainville Town Departments will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12.  This includes offices in the Municipal Center, Recreation Building, Senior Center and Public Library, according to the town website www.plainvillect.com at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. Schools will be closed on Wednesday.

Senior center quilt raffle

Raffle tickets for the Plainville Senior Center’s annual quilt raffle are now available. The tickets are $1 each and are sold at the front desk of the Senior Center, 200 East St., at various locations around town and at the Annual Craft Fair that will be held at the Senior Center on Saturday, Nov. 6, when the drawing will take place. The quilt is crafted by volunteers, under the direction of Karen Kebinger, and takes approximately one year to make. Every year the public looks forward to seeing the quilt and purchasing the chance to bring it home.
