Council to meet on budget Tuesday, May 18

Following voters' rejection of the third all-day vote May 11 on the proposed 2010-11 budget, the Plainville Town Council will meet Tuesday, May 18, 7 p.m.,council chambers,  to decide upon the recommendation for the third budget vote. The final budget vote will be held Tuesday, May 25, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Plainville Firehouse, 77 W. Main St.

Following the voters’ rejection on April 27 of the proposed combined budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year, the Plainville Town Council adjusted the budget. The summary, as provided by the town manager’s office, follows:

The townwide all-day budget vote will be held Tuesday, April 27, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Plainville Fire Department, 77 W. Main St.

Budget meeting cancelled

The budget meeting set for tonight, March 30, has been cancelled.

At the meeting held last night, the Plainville Town Council approved a proposed combined budget of $53,377,036. The vote was 5-2 with Phillip D. Cox Jr. and Scott D. Saunders, first-term councilors, voting against it.

Council to hear from departments, meetings to be aired

The Plainville Town Council will continue special meetings, hearing presentations from town departments: Thursday, March 11, Tuesday, March 16, Thursday, March 18, Tuesday, March 23 and Thursday, March 25. All will be held at 7 pm. in council chambers at the Municipal Center, 1 Central Square. Public comment is not allowed.

Town council meeting cancelled

The Plainville Town Council meeting will not be held tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 16, due to the inclement weather. The council will next meet at its scheduled meeting on Monday, March 1.

Town council approves teachers' contract

The Plainville Town Council  approved the newly negotiated contract between the Education Association of Plainville and the Plainville Board of Education, on behalf of district teachers, for the period of July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2013, according to Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Binkowski. The Plainville Board of Education adopted the mediated settlement on Oct.
