The Plainville Town Council will continue special meetings, hearing presentations from town departments: Thursday, March 11, Tuesday, March 16, Thursday, March 18, Tuesday, March 23 and Thursday, March 25. All will be held at 7 pm. in council chambers at the Municipal Center, 1 Central Square. Public comment is not allowed.

The Plainville Town Council meeting will not be held tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 16, due to the inclement weather. The council will next meet at its scheduled meeting on Monday, March 1.

The Plainville Town Council approved the newly negotiated contract between the Education Association of Plainville and the Plainville Board of Education, on behalf of district teachers, for the period of July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2013, according to Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Binkowski. The Plainville Board of Education adopted the mediated settlement on Oct.

The following students were named local winners in this year’s . Hannah Nicole Charest, grade 4 from Toffolon School and Jonathan M. Olson, grade 5 from Linden Street School were grand prize winners in the Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest.

Local Republicans were celebrating a resurgence of sorts Tuesday night as the GOP picked up a seat on the Town Council and held their ground on the Board of Education.

There will be no meeting of the Plainville Greenway Alliance Tuesday, Sept. 8. The Trail Design Steering Committee is meeting that afternoon with trail designers, Milone & MacBroom, and with town officials, to review the input of the two design workshops prior to the designer's efforts to complete the feasibility study by the end of September.
