Student to receive honors as a woman in leadership
Plainville High School senior, Brandy Guarda, is among those people being honored at 13th biennial Women in Leadership luncheon, hosted by the YWCA New Britain. The event will be held Wednesday, May 20, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Aqua Turf Club, Mulberry Street, Plantsville.

YMCA introduces new free swim program for first-graders
The Wheeler Regional Family YMCA has announced First WAVE, a free swim program for all first-graders in Plainville. Lessons will be taught at the Wheeler Regional Family YMCA, and are funded through the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and major sponsorship from Farmington Savings Bank.
YMCA plans Healthy Kids Day
The Wheeler Regional Family YMCA, 149 Farmington Ave., in Plainville will join more than 1,700 YMCAs nationwide by presenting the 18th annual YMCA Healthy Kids Day Saturday, April 18, from 1 to 4 p.m.
