Brittany Rogan named Governor's Scholar
Plainville High School junior Brittany Rogan has been selected as a 2010 governor’s scholar, according to PHS Principal Greg Ziogas. “Brittany Rogan is another example of the quality people that Plainville High School produces. Her hard work in and outside of the classroom are a source of great pride to her family and the school,” said Ziogas.
Wolcott school administrator to head PHS
Steven LePage, assistant principal of Wolcott High School in Wolcott, has been named principal of Plainville High School, school officials announced May 26. LePage will replace current principal Greg Ziogas, who will retire in June.
Plainville DECA excels at state conference
On March 9, 24 students from the Plainville High School DECA chapter competed against more than 1,000 state-wide members at the State Career Development Conference held at the Aqua Turf in Southington.
Students participate in early college experience
Thirty five Plainville High School students studying Spanish 4 are currently enrolled in the University of Connecticut’s Early College Experience Program, under the direction of Plainville High School World Language teacher Joanne Curley.
Commission to evaluate Plainville High School
Fifteen educators will make an on-site evaluation of Plainville High School Oct. 25 to 28, Principal Greg Ziogas announced Sept. 28. The evaluation visit will be conducted under the direction of the Commission on Public Secondary Schools of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Students from Plainville High School are debating current events and making new friends through participation in the Connecticut Youth Forum program. The program features monthly meetings at various schools in Connecticut, where high school students come together for lively discussion and debate on current events and topics of interest.

Nationally renowned motivational speaker Keith Hawkins visited Plainville High School on Oct. 14 with an important message for students: invest in their time at school for future success.
