Citizens group to celebrate July 4
The Citizens and Property Owners Association of Plainville will gather at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 4 at Veterans' Memorial Park, located at the corner of Whiting and Maple streets, to celebrate individual freedom and the fact America is still a great country.
John Kisluk, president of the taxpayers group, and member Joanne Edman invite residents to join in a patriotic reading of the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. The group also will sing, "God Bless America."
The group recently held a rally at Paderewski Park to protest overtaxation. Members poured tea into the pond at the park, waved flags and protest signs. They also vowed to send protest messages to President Obama and members of Congress.
Plainville and area residents may attend the July 4 event.

July 4th event
Submitted by John Kisluk (not verified) on Fri, 07/03/2009 - 2:01pm.I wish to thank Ken of the Plainville Citizen for publicizing the celebration of July 4th by the Plainville Citizens and Taxpayers Association. Our organization is comprised of loyal and patriotic Americans who are proud to celebrate every important event that was part of making the United states a great country. We do so because we can and we do not want people to forget our history! We will be having a simple and solemn ceremony which will involve the laying of wreaths at each of the monuments at Veterans' Memorial Park. Individuals will be reading historic documents or other relevent writings that they feel are part of our freedoms.
I would like to state that the Teaparty event that was staged at Paderewski park to coincide with Teaparty events that were happening throughout the United States, was organized by two of Plainville's most patriotic residents, Janice and Gary Eisenhauer. Our organization was honored to be invited, and we did so. The event was special and unforgetable for me.
Get involved!! don't let Government leave you out of decisions that affect us.
