A man sustained minor injuries in this Thursday morning accident on Camp Street.

A Bristol man fell asleep Thursday morning and hit a utility pole on Camp Street, flipping his car. Police said Stephen O'Neil, 42, was driving south on Camp Street when he fell asleep and hit the Connecticut Light & Power pole at about 8:21 a.m.

Police Capt. Peter Costanzo said it was not known why the driver fell asleep.

O'Neil sustained abrasions and was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel. He refused further medical treatment.

His car, a 1999 Jeep sports utility vehicle was towed from the scene.
