Police announce sobriety checkpoint

The Plainville Police Department has announced that it will conduct a DUI sobriety checkpoint beginning Friday, July 3 at 6:30 p.m. until Saturday, July 4 at 2 a.m., on Route 177 in Plainville.
Sgt. Charles Smedick, of the police department's traffic division, said the checkpoint is part of the state's comprehensive DUI sobriety enforcement program. He said that every motorist driving through the area will be observed, stopped and interviewed by officers.
The checkpoint will monitor vehicles driving north and south on Route 177, Smedick said.
