Police charge 21 motorists in holiday checkpoint

Plainville Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint July 4, from 8 p.m. until 2:30 a.m., on West Main Street, Route 372, as part of the Connecticut Expanded DUI Enforcement Program. As a result, three motorists were charged with driving while intoxicated. In addition, five individuals were charged with illegal possession of marijuana, four charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, three charged with failure to wear a seatbelt, one charged with two counts of child restraint system violations and one arrest for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

In addition to the checkpoint enforcement, DUI patrols arrested an additional five motorists during the weekend and charged them with driving while intoxicated. Those charged include:

Nicole E, Gonzalez, 27, Southington, charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia; Jill J. Sanchez, 36, Middletown, charged with driving while intoxicated, no insurance, operating unregistered motor vehicle, cell phone violation; Paul M. Plourde, 42, Plainville, charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to carry insurance; Frederick Davis Jr., 23, Farmington, charged with driving while intoxicated, no turn signal; Andrew James, 26, Plainville, charged with driving while intoxicated, stop sign violation, failure to signal; Douglas A. Leal, 51, Farmington, charged with driving while intoxicated, improper lane; Jennifer Tedesco, 45, Windsor, charged with driving while intoxicated, passing on right; Thomas Barbieri, 30, Terryville, charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to drive right; Eric A. Levy, 28, Thomaston, charged with illegal possession of marijuana; Jeffrey B. Crocker Jr., 22, Naugatuck, charged with illegal possession of marijuana.

Also, Emily E. Martin, 19, Plainville, charged with illegal possession of marijuana; Nicole L. Johnson, 20, Thomaston, charged with illegal possession of marijuana; Matthew D. Cavalier, 25, New Britain, charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance; Shante M. Jones, 19, Bristol, charged with two counts of child restraint violation, failure to carry insurance; Veronica Womble, 23, Bristol, charged with failure to wear seatbelt; Joanne M. Mangene, 41, Bristol, charged with failure to wear seatbelt; Jill M. Roberts, 36, Bristol, charged with failure to wear seatbelt; Sean E. Buttner, no age given, New Britain, charged with operation without license and unsafe tires; Timothy J. Osuch, 40, Bristol, charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle; Sarah Meaney, 30, Newington, charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to carry insurance; Holly R. Roy, 20, Burlington, charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to carry insurance.
